Daytona Beach Browncoats

Unrelated to BCA, yet important to me is the upcoming ::Can't Stop the Serenity:: screenings, which happen world wide. Turns out someone has taken the initiative to have a screening right in my backyard, so I wanted to spread the world a little bit about the ::Daytona Beach Browncoats:: The screening will take place June 27th, in a location to be announced, somewhere in Daytona Beach, Florida. Tickets are $10 and the majority of proceeds will go to Equality Now, which is a charity Joss Whedon and his fans have supported over the years. Tickets are already on sale, so hit up the website for more information. ALSO if you are interested in being a vendor or volunteer, the website has more info on that as well. I hope to see a lot of Browncoats there, and if any BCA are interested I am sure you are welcome too.

Shindig Gallery & New Merch

So after a short stint with the site down for spamming (which was not done by us) it is back, and with an updated photo gallery! Check out the long awaited pictures from the Big Damn Prom Shindig from Aug. 3, 2007 in the Gallery section. If you have pictures you want me to add just let me know. Enjoy! BDPS Gallery The shindig page itself will have info next time we plan something specifically Firefly related. Till then, keep checking the boards. :) I also added a few random things to the BCA Extras Cafepress store. My personal favorite would be the canvas bag... all the better to save our 'verse with my dears.

Lack of Updates

Wow, so I am the worst webmaster ever and never update. Nor do I add the photo galleries I promise. But as a brief update, a bunch of us were present for Orlando's MegaCon this year, and while we didn't focus on anything too Browncoat related, a good dorktastic time was had by all. That seems to be the case when boardies gather en masse regardless of function - official or not. Anyway, until we meet again my friends! :)

Meetup at MegaCon?

Well folks, even though the site hasn't quite been updated with the last shindig yet, there is potentially another one brewing for March 2008 in the lovely city of Orlando. As it turns out, a rather large handful of VA board members are looking to attend Orlando's MegaCon this year, and in that handful is another handful who are Browncoats. It is the best of both worlds, yet again. Right now it is too early to give any definite information, but keep in mind that we might have something brewing. As always, thanks for your support and patience kids. Till the next time, stay shiny (noonch!). Oh! And I also want to add, that the money raised at the BCA shindig in August is now in the hands of a man who will see it through to RAINN. Thanks to Gavin and Ming for being rockstars.

Well the BCA Shindig was a huge success, and we managed to raise about $500.00 for charity! Thank you all for attending, or supporting in your own ways. I know I had a great time, and I loved meeting all of you! Thanks again to all our awesome sponsors who donated some really nice swag. Pictures soon. Stay tuned.

First of all, thanks for the birthday wishes. :) Secondly, we won't know what room(s) the BCA party is in till Gavin checks in and the rooms are assigned. The info will be announced as soon as we know, both on the board in the appropriate threads, and here.

Party Updates

So the party is drawing ever nearer, and just this one thing has changed with the original plans. The party is still starting at 3pm, but the screenings are now going to begin at 4pm instead of 5pm. The reasoning for this is so we can end earlier and thus go out and party with other boardies who will be elsewhere celebrating other things. :) The Holiday Inn is still the party place, and a room will be announced as soon as we know. Though it might not be until a lot of us are already in NJ. They don't tell you room numbers till you check in most of the time. Anyway, thanks guys! We're only a couple weeks away!

Shindig Screening Results

The results are in, and the screeners for the Big Damn Prom Shindig are:

1. Serenity (the pilot)

4. Ariel
5. Objects in Space

If there is more time, or if people want to stick around and watch more, then we will begin to screen the episodes we skipped, voting to take place in the room by show of hands, most likely.

Big Damn Prom Shindig Updates

Great news! After sending out some emails to fellow Browncoat groups and vendors, I have procured some rather shiny items to include in our raffle at the BDPS! Take a moment to visit these awesome vendors, for they have contributed to our cause, and will help to make our shindig a success.

www.donetheimpossible.com who have donated a DVD of "Done the Impossible" as well as a CD soundtrack. These are the awesome folks who are responsible for the Browncoat Cruise as well, which I have pimped on the VA board in the past (www.browncoatcruise.com).

www.wash-o-saurus.com sent me a fantastic care package with lots of fun things any Wash fan would be proud to own!

And stay tuned, because I am waiting for a few more vendors to come through. Also, our very own Gavin has donated quite a bit of swag, so start saving those loose dollar bills folks, because you are going to want this stuff!

Just a note, that right now the BCA gathering is for registered members of the VA message board, only. Sadly, we can not accomodate the general Browncoat public this time around.

Browncoats Askew Planning Meetup

Kevin's 37th birthday to-do appears to be drawing a large VA boardie crowd to NJ in early August, so the plan is to try to get all the BCA in one place at one time to party and view some Firefly, maybe eat, drink, and play a little trivia. No real plans are set in stone yet, but stay tuned. There currently is a poll in the FF/S thread that will help us plan a shindig if you plan to come to Kevin's party, or just come to NJ to hang out.
